Overview
Automatic linking of data

There's a faster way to link data to diagrams than by dragging rows to shapes. Take this course and learn how to link data to shapes automatically using Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007.

Don’t have the 2007 Office release? You can download a free 60-day trial or buy it now.

  • Length: 30–40 minutes

GOALS

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Automatically link a large amount of data to many shapes all at once.
  • Configure Visio to refresh the linked data automatically so that you don’t have to.
  • Link older Visio diagrams that contain data to a data source.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course includes:

  • One self-paced lesson and one practice session for hands-on experience. The practice requires Microsoft Office Visio 2007 Professional.
  • A short test at the end of each lesson; tests are not scored.
  • A Quick Reference Card you can take away from the course.
AUDIO TEXT

In Link data to diagrams I, we teach you how to drag data rows to shapes one by one. But doing that manual process can be, well, a drag if you have a lot of rows to link. This course shows you how to link many rows to many shapes automatically in Visio Professional 2007. Also, you'll learn here what to do with Visio diagrams created in previous versions — diagrams that contain data already. We'll show you how to link those diagrams to external data sources automatically so that you don't have to enter data by hand.
