Overview
Create parameter queries that prompt users

A Microsoft Access parameter query is useful when you perform the same type of query often, but the values that you search for change. If you're familiar with the basic select query, learn how to turn it into a parameter query.

  • Length: 40-–50 minutes

GOALS

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Understand when and how to use parameter queries.
  • Set up and run a parameter query that prompts you for the data you want to find.
  • Set up a parameter query that retrieves all the data between two values.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course includes:

  • Three self-paced lessons and three practice sessions for hands-on experience.
  • A short test at the end of each lesson; tests are not scored.
  • A Quick Reference Card you can take away from the course.
COURSE TEXT

Do you run the same sort of query again and again, but with new values each time?

Perhaps you bill people for services performed during any of several periods. Or you check on shipments to one state after another. You might offer different discounts to customers with total purchases between various specified amounts.

Whenever you need to change query details as you go along, an Access parameter query makes the process easy.
