Find what you need by using the Research task pane  

Need a definition, a synonym, facts about a company's finances, an encyclopedia article, or other types of information from the Web? Then the new Research service in Microsoft Office 2003 is for you.

GOALS

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Look up definitions and synonyms without leaving your workspace.
  • Use the Research task pane to look up encyclopedia articles, get translation services, and search the Web by using MSN® search or other Web sites.
  • Access the Research task pane on any Web page (requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later).

When you use the Research service, the Research task pane conveniently opens next to your document, where it's easy to use the dictionary or thesaurus, search the Web, or even get translation services without leaving your workspace.

In this course you'll learn how to find information as you work by using the new Research service.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Note   You'll practice using the Research service in Microsoft Office Word 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. The tool works the same in the 2003 version of these other Microsoft Office System programs: Outlook®, PowerPoint®, Publisher, Visio®, and OneNote™.
