COURSE TEXT

Did you know you can go to your calendar by pressing CTRL+2? Or read messages, make appointments, and save contact details all with just the keyboard? There are many reasons why people prefer using the keyboard rather than the mouse in Outlook; they include speed, ease of use, physical disabilities, and versatility.

To learn more about this course, read the overview in the center of this page or the table of contents in the left column.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

You should take the course Work with the keyboard in Office or already know about keyboard shortcuts for menus and toolbars. (Although this course concentrates on specific keyboard shortcuts, menus and toolbars are mentioned when there is no specific keyboard shortcut for an action.) Also, you should know how to access the complete list of keyboard shortcuts in the Help topics.

Note   This course will give you a sound background on using the keyboard for the most common tasks performed in Outlook, but it doesn't cover everything you can do with the keyboard. Also, some keyboard shortcuts have been listed with handy tips for remembering them, but you can have fun thinking up your own ways of memorizing the shortcuts (it's always best to use the things that help you to remember, even if they are a bit silly).
