View the status of your services

As an Office 365 admin, you can see whether there has been a service interruption or outage in your service on the Office 365 service health page. The Service health page shows status information for today, the past six days, and 30 days of history. You can also find out when planned maintenance is scheduled for your services.

 Important    If you can’t sign in to Office 365, you won’t be able to see the Service health page. See Troubleshoot sign-in to Office 365 for what to do next.

To see the status of all your services and their components

  1. In the Office 365 admin center, in the left pane, click Service health (or Trace service health and maintenance).
  2. On the Current status page, view status for today and the preceding six days. Do any of the following:
  1. To see additional components or features of a service, click the down arrow next to that service.
  2. For details, click a status icon (see Status icon descriptions).
  3. To see status history, click View history for past 30 days.
  4. Click the RSS link to sign up for the service health RSS feed, which will send you mail when a new event is added or an existing event is updated.

  • See other reports:    There are also reports available for admins of Office 365 Enterprise and Office 365 Midsize Business. Click Admin > Reports.

Planned maintenance

You can view details about a planned maintenance event, including its date and time.

  1. In the Office 365 admin center, click Service health > Planned maintenance (or click Trace service health and maintenance > Planned maintenance).
  2. On the Planned maintenance page, click a link in the Status column for additional information.

Status icon descriptions

Icon Icon description Definition
Normal service availability Normal service availability The service is available and has suffered no incidents during the reporting time period. This icon doesn’t link to additional information.
Investigating Investigating A potential service incident is under investigation. More information will be provided shortly.
False positive False positive The service is healthy. A potential service incident that was being investigated didn’t actually occur.
Service interruption Service interruption The service isn’t functioning. Users cannot access their email, documents, or presence information.
Restoring service Restoring service The service incident is in the process of being resolved.
Service degradation Service degradation The service is slow, sluggish, or occasionally unresponsive for brief periods.
Extended recovery Extended recovery Steps have been completed to resolve the service incident. However, it will take an extended period of time for service operations to return to normal. During this time, some service behaviors may take longer than normal to complete.
Normal service restored Normal service restored An incident was active earlier today, but service has been restored.
Post-incident report published Post-incident report published A report of the service incident has been published.
Additional information Additional information An incident was active during a previous day. The incident may be resolved or may remain active. Look at the Today column for the current status.


 Notes 

  • Dates and times are displayed according to the time zone in your location and converted to daylight saving time as appropriate. During the hours when daylight saving time conversions are taking place, the time of your incident report may be affected, even in locations that don’t use daylight saving time.
  • You can also get to the Service health page from the Office 365 admin center dashboard. Click View details and history at the bottom of the Current health alert.

Translate a service health explanation into my language

If you click an event on the Service health page, the Details of the event are provided only in English. If you want to read the details in another language, you can get a translation of the information.

  1. Go to the translation service at Translator.
  2. On the Service health page, click an icon that indicates a service incident. Under Details, copy the text that describes the incident, and then paste it into the translation service where indicated.
  3. In Translator, select the language you want the text be to translated into, and click Translate.
