Back-ups van e-mails, agenda's, contactpersonen, taken en notities (.PST)
Een Outlook-gegevensbestand (.PST) bevat back-ups van uw e-mailberichten, agenda's, contactpersonen, taken en notities, en wordt opgeslagen op de volgende standaardlocaties, afhankelijk van het besturingssysteem:

Offline of in de cache opgeslagen Outlook-items (.OST)
E-mailaccounts, zoals Microsoft Exchange, Hotmail of IMAP-accounts, bewaren uw e-mail op een server. Een Offline Outlook-gegevensbestand (.OST) is een gesynchroniseerde kopie van het account die op uw computer wordt opgeslagen op de volgende locaties, afhankelijk van het besturingssysteem:

Opmerking Alle gegevens in het OST-bestand worden bewaard op de accountserver, zodat u er geen back-up van hoeft te maken. De accountserver synchroniseert het OST-bestand op uw computer om e-mail en agenda-items up-to-date te houden.
Persoonlijk adresboek (.PAB)
Persoonlijke adresboekbestanden (.PAB) zijn lijsten met namen en distributielijsten, die worden gebruikt in Outlook 2003 en eerdere versies. Als u ze wilt gebruiken in Outlook 2013, zet u de bestanden vanaf de volgende locatie om in een map met contactpersonen door te klikken op Bestand > Openen en exporteren > Importeren.

Offlineadresboek (.OAB)
Het offlineadresboek (.OAB) wordt gebruikt door Microsoft Exchange Server-accounts. Het bevat gegevens, zoals namen, e-mailadressen, titels en kantoorlocaties, uit de algemene adreslijst op de server waarop Exchange wordt uitgevoerd.
U hoeft geen back-up van dit bestand te maken of terug te zetten. Dit bestand wordt automatisch gemaakt en bijgewerkt door de server. Het wordt opgeslagen op de volgende locaties, afhankelijk van het besturingssysteem.

Een aantal van deze mappen kan verborgen zijn. Ga als volgt te werk als u verborgen mappen in Windows wilt weergeven:
- Klik op Start > Configuratiescherm.
- Klik in het menu Weergeven op op Grote pictogrammen of Kleine pictogrammen.
- Open Mapopties.
- Klik op Weergave > Geavanceerde instellingen > Bestanden en mappen > Verborgen bestanden en mappen en selecteer Verborgen bestanden en mappen weergeven.
- Klik op OK.
