You must be running Microsoft Office 2003 on a Tablet PC (Tablet PC: A computer that runs Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. 1. If the Ink Drawing and Writing or Ink Annotations toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.) isn't showing, tap the ink (ink: The writing or drawing strokes made with a tablet pen or mouse.) to display the toolbar.
2. On the Ink Drawing and Writing or Ink Annotations toolbar, tap the arrow next to pen name , where pen name describes the type and color of pen, such as Felt Tip (Blue).
3. Select a pen.

Note  You cannot switch pens in comment balloons in Microsoft Word.
