Watch this: Display or hide table gridlines in Word 2007
 

Gridlines can help by showing the cell boundaries in a table, but do not appear when the document is printed, unlike borders. If you are not used to working with gridlines, however, seeing lines where no cell borders have been set, or seeing lines that don’t print, might be confusing.
