Working with a document created in a previous version of Word is easy in Microsoft Office Word 2007. You can open an earlier document in Office Word 2007 and then work in Compatibility Mode to leave the document in the earlier format. That way you can continue to share the document with people who aren't using Word 2007. Or you can convert it to Word 2007 format to take full advantage of the new features in Word 2007, such as document themes, SmartArt graphics, pull quotes, and smaller file size. Just make your changes and then save the document, and you'll be able to choose what file format to save in.

Watch the demo to see what to expect when you open Word documents from earlier versions in Word 2007.
