Use the Navigation Pane to search and move around in your document

How do you open the Navigation Pane?

On the View tab on the ribbon, select the Navigation Pane check box.

On the Review tab on the ribbon, click Reviewing Pane.

Press CTRL+H.

On the Page Layout tab on the ribbon, click Page Setup.

You use the Navigation Pane only for viewing the arrangement of headings and pages in your document.



What’s required in order for headings to appear in the heading view of the Navigation Pane?

Headings must have bold formatting or some other character formatting to indicate emphasis.

Any bulleted text will appear in the list of headings in the Navigation Pane.

The headings must have heading styles applied.

Any of the above.

What’s a quick way to add a new section to your document?

In the document body, copy and paste the heading and body content that look the same as what you want the new section to look like, and then replace the text with new material.

In the Navigation Pane, right-click the heading that you want to precede or follow the new section heading, and then click New Heading Before or New Heading After.

In the Navigation Pane, right-click a heading and then click Demote.

On the Insert tab, click Header.

You can only search for text in a Word document.
