Undo, redo, or repeat an action

You can undo and redo many actions in the following Microsoft Office 2010 programs: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

What do you want to do?


Undo the last action or actions that you made

To undo an action, do one or more of the following:

  • Click Undo Button image on the Quick Access Toolbar.

Keyboard shortcut  Press CTRL+Z or F2. For the F2 function key to undo your last action, you might need to press the F-Lock key.

  • To undo several actions at the same time, click the arrow next to Undo Button image, select the actions in the list that you want to undo, and then click the list.

All of the actions that you selected are undone or reversed.

Redo actions that you undid

  • To redo an action that you undid, click Redo Button image on the Quick Access Toolbar.

Repeat the last action

Which 2010 Microsoft Office system program are you using?


Excel

By default, the Repeat command Button image is not available on the Quick Access Toolbar. If you want to repeat the last action, you need to add the Repeat command to the Quick Access Toolbar first.

  1. Add the Repeat command to the Quick Access Toolbar by doing the following:
  1. Click File tab.
  2. Under Help, click Options.
  1. Click Quick Access Toolbar.
  2. Under Choose commands from, click Popular Commands.
  3. In the list of commands, click Repeat, and then click Add.
  4. Click OK.

  1. Repeat the last action by clicking Repeat Button image on the Quick Access Toolbar.

 Note   Some actions in Excel, such as using a function in a cell, can’t be repeated. If you can't repeat the last action, the Repeat command changes to Can't Repeat.

PowerPoint

By default, the Repeat command Button image is available on the Quick Access Toolbar after you do some action in PowerPoint. If you can't repeat the last action, the Repeat command changes to Can't Repeat.

  • To repeat the last action, click Repeat Button image on the Quick Access Toolbar.

Word
