Turn on or off the speech recognition microphone

Applies to: Microsoft Office Access 2003, Excel 2003, FrontPage 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Publisher 2003, Word 2003

 

This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese, English (U.S.), and Japanese language versions of Microsoft Office.

Turning the microphone on or off turns speech recognition on or off.

  • On the Language bar, click Microphone Button image.

 Notes 

  • You can turn the microphone off by saying, "microphone."
  • Remember to turn the microphone off when you are not using speech recognition. Speech recognition will continue to process sounds until the microphone is turned off.
