Create individual envelopes and labels

The Envelope Options dialog box

Customize your envelope in the Envelope Options dialog box.

Imagine you are applying for a job or advertising your own business. The basic information is on your envelope, but you want to make more of an impact. You can change the font, layout, and even put graphics—maybe a company logo—on the envelope. But use your common sense: Do not make the envelope so interesting that it becomes undeliverable—the address should be legible from an arm's length away.

To customize your envelope, click the Options button in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box.

Font

You can change the font of the entire address by using the Font buttons in the Envelope Options dialog box. Alternatively, select the text in the address box and right–click to open the Font dialog box (very useful if you wish to change the font of individual words). You'll get the chance to try both of these methods in the practice session.

Layout

Use the From left and From top boxes to change the position of the delivery and return addresses. Check the preview pane to see what the envelope will look like with the addresses in the new locations.

Graphics

You can add WordArt or graphics to envelopes as you would to any document. Just be sure to place them where they won't obstruct the address or otherwise interfere with mail processing. You'll try this in the practice session.
