You can add a variety of diagrams to your Microsoft Excel 2002 spreadsheet, Microsoft Word 2002 document, or Microsoft PowerPoint® 2002 presentation. Using the diagramming tool on the Drawing toolbar, you can create one of the following diagram types:

What is a diagram?
A diagram is a type of drawing you can create and use to illustrate conceptual information and enliven documents and presentations (diagrams are not numerically based).
Note The word "diagram" is used in this article to denote the type of drawing you can create and edit using the Diagram toolbar in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. For information about creating a greater variety of diagrams and drawings for your Office documents, read about Microsoft Visio . To add a diagram to your document, worksheet, or presentation
- On the Drawing toolbar, click Insert Diagram or Organization Chart.
- Click the diagram type you want, and then click OK.
- Do one or more of the following:
- If you want to add text to an element in the diagram, right-click the element, click Edit Text, and then type the text.
For cycle and target diagrams, you can only add text to the text placeholders that appear when you insert the diagram or diagram element.
- If you want to add an element, click Insert Shape on the Diagram toolbar.
- If you want to add a preset design scheme, click AutoFormat on the Diagram toolbar, and select a style from the Diagram Style Gallery.
- Click outside the drawing when you are finished.
Note When you insert a diagram, you cannot move or size an individual element in the diagram. To do this, you must first turn off the AutoLayout feature by clicking AutoLayout on the Format menu. To change the diagram type
- Click Change to on the Diagram toolbar and then click the diagram type you want.
You can change the diagram type at any time. When you change the diagram type, the colors, the number of shapes, the text, and the text formatting of your original diagram are preserved.
