Create and use speech recognition user profiles

Applies to: Microsoft Office Access 2003, Excel 2003, FrontPage 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Publisher 2003, Word 2003

 

This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English (U.S.), and Japanese language versions of Microsoft Office.

Speech recognition user profiles store information about how to recognize your voice. You can create profiles for multiple users on the same computer. You can also create additional profiles for yourself when working in environments with different levels of noise or using different microphones.

ShowCreate a new profile

  1. In the Microsoft Windows XP Control Panel, click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices, and then click Speech. In the Windows 2000 Control Panel, double-click the Speech icon.
  2. Click the Speech Recognition tab.
  3. Under Recognition Profiles, click New, and follow the instructions in the Profile Wizard.

ShowSelect a profile for the current user

  1. On the Language bar, click Tools Button image.
  2. Point to Current User, and then click a profile.
