Table of Contents II: Customize your TOC

Three table of contents examples

Choose a look that's great for your table of contents.

So, you've created an automatic table of contents, but now you feel like making some changes. This lesson will show you how.

For example, you notice that the headings in your document are blue, but not in the TOC. You like the blue color and want to make the TOC entries the same color.

Maybe your TOC is too long and you want to shorten it. There's an easy way to do this.

Or, perhaps you're basically satisfied with your TOC, but just want to make a minor change? For instance, you want to change the dots or dashes between the TOC entry and the page number, or maybe you want the page numbers closer to the TOC entries.

All these changes — and more — are possible.
