Activate or deactivate the Three-state workflow as a site collection feature

By default, the Three-state workflow is already active as a site collection feature for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site templates. However, if your organization has customized the default settings for your site, you may need to activate the workflow as a site collection feature to make it available to be added to lists or libraries. You must be a site collection administrator to activate a site collection feature.

Activate the Three-state workflow

  1. On the home page for the site collection, on the Site Actions menu Site Actions menu, click Site Settings.
  2. Under Site Collection Administration, click Site collection features.
  3. On the Site Collection Features page, in the Three-state workflow section, click the Activate button.

Deactivate the Three-state workflow

You can deactivate the Three-state workflow feature if you do not want it to be available to people who use a site. If you deactivate Three-state workflow, it will not be available for users to add to lists or libraries. You must be a site collection administrator to deactivate a site collection feature.

  1. On the home page for the site collection, on the Site Actions menu Site Actions menu, click Site Settings.
  2. Under Site Collection Administration, click Site collection features.
  3. On the Site Collection Features page, in the Three-state workflow section, click the Deactivate button.
  4. Click Deactivate this feature.

 Important   If you deactivate the workflow, any user data or customizations associated with Three-state workflow may be lost. Also, any instances of Three-state workflow that may be in progress on sites in the site collection may stop functioning.
