Find a shape in a drawing

You can find a shape in your current drawing by searching for text in text blocks, shape names, custom property values, and user-defined cell values (in a shape's ShapeSheet (ShapeSheet: The spreadsheet that contains information about a shape; for example, its dimensions, angle, and center of rotation and the styles that determine the shape's appearance.) spreadsheet).

  1. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  2. In the Find what box, type the text that is associated with the shape you are looking for.
  3. If you want to include special characters in your search, click Special, and then click the special character you want to add.
  4. Under Search in, select the locations you want to search.
  5. Under Options, select the refinements you want to add to your search.
  6. Click Find Next.
  7. Microsoft Office Visio finds the first shape containing the text or data you want and highlights the shape on the page. Text within a shape is highlighted. A shape that contains invisible text (such as text in a custom property or user-defined cell) is selected, and the property or cell is identified in the Found in box.
