1. Drag a guide (guide, guide point: A reference line you can drag onto the drawing page to position shapes precisely. Drag guides from the rulers, and the guide point from the upper-left corner of the drawing window.) from the horizontal or vertical ruler onto the drawing page, and then release the mouse button.
2. On the Tools menu, click Snap & Glue.
3. Under Currently active, make sure that the Glue check box is selected.
4. Under Glue to, select the Guides check box.
5. Do one of the following:
• If the shape is a 1-D shape (1-D shape: Either a straight line you draw using Visio drawing tools or a shape that has a beginning point and ending point and can be glued between two shapes to connect them.), drag one of the shape's endpoints to the place on the guide where you want to glue it.

When the shape is glued, the endpoint turns red.

• If the shape is a 2-D shape (2-D shape: A shape that has four selection handles that you can use to resize the shape proportionally.), drag the shape to the place on the guide where you want to glue it.

When the shape is glued, the selection handles on the glued part of the shape turn red.
