- Create a master that is linked to a database table.
How
- On the Tools menu, point to Add-Ons, point to Visio Extras, and then click Database Wizard.
- On the first wizard page, click Next.
- Choose Link shapes to database records.
- Choose either Master(s) on a document stencil or Master(s) on a Visio Stencil.
- Select a document stencil or click Browse to find a Visio stencil. (Visio stencils are typically in c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio 11\1033.)
- When you reach the Link ShapeSheet cells to database fields screen, make sure all available
database fields are linked to cells.
- Follow the remaining wizard pages.
- After you finish the wizard, save the stencil containing the linked master(s) with a
name and location that's easy to find later. (The stencil will have opened as you went through the wizard.)

- On the Tools menu, point to Add-Ons, point to Visio Extras, and then click Database Wizard.
- On the first wizard page, click Next.
- Choose Create a linked drawing or modify an existing one.
- Choose Create a drawing which represents a database table.
- Choose Create new drawing.
- Once you reach the Select a Visio master shape screen, click Browse and navigate to the stencil you saved in Step 1. (When you save a stencil, the My Shapes folder is the default location.)
- Follow the remaining wizard pages.
