A few important pointers about printing in Microsoft Office Visio can ensure that your drawings print correctly the first time.
The drawing page versus the printer paper
The drawing page is the white surface you see in the Visio window. It can be larger,
smaller, or the exact size of the paper you print it onto. The orientations (portrait or landscape) of the drawing page and the printer paper
can differ from one another as well.

You choose the size and orientation for the printer paper in the Page Setup dialog
box, on the Print Setup tab. You choose similar settings for the drawing page on the
Page Size tab. Both are available on the File menu.
Preview your drawing before you print
To see how your drawing will print, on the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Print Setup tab. The preview shows the orientation of both paper and drawing. It also shows where a small drawing will print on the paper, or how many pages of paper a large drawing will
print onto. For large drawings, dashed gray lines indicate page breaks, or tiles.

Printing large drawings
If your drawing is larger than your printer paper you can:
- Print it to a plotter.
- Reduce the size of your drawing to fit your printer paper by adjusting the Print zoom on the Print Setup tab of the Page Setup dialog box.
- Tile a drawing onto multiple pages.

Tip
If you change page settings, preview your drawing to make sure your drawing
and printer paper still work together correctly.
Printing small drawings
If your drawing is smaller than your printer paper you can:
- Center it on the printer paper.
- Increase the size of your drawing so it exactly fits the paper.
Tip
If you change page settings, preview your drawing to make sure your drawing
and printer paper are still coordinated.
Printing part of a drawing
You can print:
- Selected shapes or layers.
- A background or foreground only.
- Only the area you see in the drawing window.
