About the Favorites stencil and My Shapes

The Favorites stencil is automatically created when you install Microsoft Office Visio and is located in the My Shapes folder under My Documents. As you work in Visio, consider using the Favorites stencil to store shapes that you:

  • Use often and want to find quickly.
  • Find in shape searches and want to use again.
  • Create yourself.
  • Modify for your own use.

You can easily save a copy of a shape by right-clicking the shape in a stencil, pointing to Add To My Shapes, and then clicking Favorites. Custom stencils that you create using the New Stencil command are also saved in the My Shapes folder by default.

To view your Favorites stencil or other custom stencils you create, on the File menu, point to Shapes, and then point to My Shapes.
