Visualize and track project schedules
Choose from a variety of linear timelines
Drag, drop, and rearrange professional-looking timeline shapes onto the drawing page to show the time span for your project. Configure date and time information in a format your audience will easily understand. Make your diagrams look even more impressive by applying color and effect themes.
Position milestones and intervals by date
Drag shapes that represent project milestones and intervals on a timeline, enter the date information, and let Office Visio position the shapes for you by date. Easily rearrange shapes by changing the date, milestone, or interval type with just a click. Add Today Marker shapes that indicate the project status to date and the amount of time that’s elapsed since the beginning of the project.
Track additional details for a portion of a timeline
Visualize a portion of your timeline in more detail using the Expanded Timeline shape, which stays synchronized with the overall timeline. Add a shape to the overall timeline and Office Visio can also add it to the expanded timeline. To better track details you might not want to show in the overall timeline, shapes that you add to the expanded timeline will not appear on the overall timeline.
