View meeting room capacity with the Conference room shape in Visio

Applies to
Microsoft Office Visio® 2003

Conference room shape

With the Conference room shape in Visio 2003, you can quickly show meeting room locations and capacities in floor plans, site plans, and other diagrams. When you use both the Conference room shape and the Legend shape, Visio automatically builds a table that shows the total number of conference rooms on the page. If you add other Points of Interest shapes to show the location of printers, telephones, and other amenities, the legend tallies those shapes as well.

To use the Conference room shape

  1. Open a new or existing building plan.

  2. From the Points of Interest stencil (stencil: A collection of masters associated with a particular Visio drawing type, or template. By default, stencils that open with a template are docked on the left side of the drawing window.), drag the Conference room shape onto the drawing page.

Points of Interest is one of several stencils that open automatically when you open a new or existing building plan.

ShowChange the number of people shown

    1. Right-click the Conference room shape, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Count of people box, enter the number of people that the meeting room holds.

Tip  To show meeting room sizes, use different colors or patterns for different capacities. For example, you can change the fill color for conference rooms that seat 0-10 people to blue, 11-20 to red, 21-30 to green, and so on.

ShowChange the fill color or pattern

    1. Right-click the shape, point to Format, and then click Fill.
    2. Select the options that you want.

For information about the dialog box options, click the Help button.

    ShowCustomize the conference room name

    1. Right-click the Conference room shape, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Text box, type the name or room number that you want.
  3. To add a legend, drag the Legend shape onto the drawing page.

Shapes that are already on the drawing page will automatically appear in the Legend shape. New shapes will appear in the legend when you drag them onto the drawing page. To learn more about working with the Legend shape, follow the links in the See Also section of this article.

Tip  You can use the Conference room shape in other types of Visio drawings. Just open the drawing and, on the File menu, point to Shapes, point to Building Plan, and then click Points of Interest.
