Introduction to Microsoft Visio 2000

Microsoft Visio 2000 helps you communicate quickly and efficiently with information-rich graphics, from simple flowcharts to detailed network diagrams. By implementing a tool that uses more than words and numbers, you can effectively capture and share knowledge. Graphics often convey information more concisely and with a reduced chance of misunderstanding, especially in a global marketplace where messages need to reach across cultures and boundaries.

Visio editions complement the Microsoft Office suite of products. You can cut, paste, and even edit your Visio graphics within Office documents, worksheets, and presentations.

Visio 2000 editions

There are four editions of Visio 2000, each suited to specific needs. Because all Visio 2000 editions share the same graphics platform, you can easily share graphics, even if you are not using the same edition as your colleague. Here is a brief description of each edition:

Standard   The Standard Edition helps you create and share business diagrams, such as flowcharts and organizational charts, for projects and processes.

Technical   The Technical Edition is especially useful for engineers and helps you create 2-D technical drawings and diagrams.

Professional   The Professional Edition helps you diagram the full range of Information Technology (IT) systems, from legacy systems to current architectures.

Enterprise   The Enterprise Edition provides software modeling and Internet site diagramming capabilities, as well as an expanded suite of tools with greater depth, breadth, and power to visualize and diagram IT systems.

If you need more specifics to help you decide which edition is right for you, review the following table:
