Center a Visio diagram before printing

Applies to
Microsoft Visio® 2002

A small diagram that is not centered on the page can look odd when you print or present it.

Top pie chart not centered, bottom one centered

Diagrams that you want to display, either in print or on-screen using a full-screen view, often look better if you center them on the page.

To center a diagram

  1. On the Shape menu, click Center Drawing.
  2. On the File menu, click Print Preview.
  3. If the diagram is still not centered on the printed page, do one of the following:
    • Set the drawing page and printed page to the same size and orientation. On the File menu, click Page Setup. In the preview window, if the Drawing Page and Printer Paper borders don't match, click the Page Size and Print Setup tabs and change size and orientation settings until the borders match.
    • Change the margin settings so the diagram is centered. On the File menu, click Page Setup. On the Print Setup tab, under Printer paper (or under Printer), click Setup. Under Margins, type the settings you want, and then click OK twice.
