Show an association between topics in a brainstorming diagram

You can show a relationship between two topics in your brainstorming diagram using an Association line shape, which appears as a dashed line between associated topics.

Note   The association is a visual display only and is not included in the hierarchy of your diagram. When you connect topics using the Association line, it reroutes with the topics when you move them. However, the association is not represented in the Outline Window and is not included in export.

  1. From Brainstorming, drag the Association line shape onto the drawing page.
  2. Drag an endpoint of the Association line to the center of a topic you want to create an association for, until you see a red square around the topic.

The red square indicates that the Association line is attached to the topic and will move with the topic.

  1. Drag the other endpoint of the Association line to the center of the second topic you want to associate with the first.

Tip   You can change the curvature of a curved Association line by dragging the green eccentricity handlesEccentricity handle image, or the angle of a straight Association line by dragging the verticesVertices handle image. You can change the connecting lines in your diagram at any time. From the Brainstorming menu, click Layout. Under Connectors, click the connector type you want, and then click OK.
