Microsoft asks that you activate your product so that we can verify that you have installed a genuine Microsoft product. When you activate your product, none of the information collected is used to personally identify you. You are required to provide your country/region.
During activation, the Microsoft Office Visio Activation Wizard creates a unique hardware identifier that represents the configuration of your computer at the time of activation. This hardware identifier does not include any personal information, any information about software or data that might reside on your computer, or any information about the specific make or model of your computer. The hardware identifier recognizes only the computer and only for the sole purpose of activation. The Microsoft Office Visio Activation Wizard can detect and tolerate changes to your computer configuration. Minor upgrades will not require re-activation, but if you completely rebuild or reconfigure your computer, you may be required to activate again.
During activation you can provide your name and other contact information if you want to register your product with Microsoft. If you choose to register your product, the information that you provide will be stored by Microsoft and security mechanisms will help protect against disclosure to third parties without your consent.
If you choose to register, you will have the opportunity to decide whether you want to receive special offers. If you select the Receive offers from Microsoft option during activation, Microsoft will send you information about Microsoft products and services. If you do not want to receive this information, do not select the Receive offers from Microsoft option.
If you select the Receive offers from Microsoft on related third-party products and services option during activation, Microsoft will carefully select other companies to send you information. If you do not want us to do this, do not select the Receive offers from Microsoft on related third-party products and services option.
To ensure that the information you provide to Microsoft through the Activation Wizard is correct, you can review and, if needed, update this information by contacting Microsoft at any time. You can use the Activation Wizard to do this on the Internet or by telephone. If these options are not available to you, you can update or change any information you provided by sending your Product ID (which you can find by clicking About on the Help menu) and any changes you would like to make to the following address. We will update your information to reflect any corrections or changes you want. It is important that you include your Product ID so that we can accurately identify your activation record.
If you believe that Microsoft has not adhered to these privacy principles, please notify us by postal mail at the following address:
