Panes, menus, and options for starting audio/video conferences

Start an audio/video conference.

The product launch is getting closer to kick-off. Some members from the Engineering group are speaking to the press in several cities. You need to get them all together on a single video conference to confirm last-minute talking points. Therefore, you decide to start an audio/video conference with contacts in the Engineering group. You can do that by right-clicking the group name in the Contact List and then clicking Start a Video Call in Communicator 2007.

Note    To initiate an audio/video conference, you need a webcam. However, you can join an audio/video conference without a webcam. Although you won't be able to transmit a video stream, you will be able to view the video stream of others in the conference.

You can also start an audio/video conference with multiple contacts in your Contact List. To do so:

  1. In the Contact List, select the contacts you want to invite by holding down the CTRL key.
  2. Right-click the last contact and click Start a Video Call.

When you invite someone to join an audio/video conference, the recipient receives an alert. To join the conference, the recipient just clicks the left pane of the alert.
