Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator

Menus and options for sending instant messages from Outlook

Send an instant message from Outlook.

The integration of Communicator 2007 with Outlook lets you send an instant message or make an audio call directly from Outlook. To do so, right-click the contact name in the e-mail request in Outlook. From the menu displayed, select the appropriate option to make a call or send an instant message to the contact.

You can also reply to an e-mail message with an instant message or an audio call. In the e-mail message, click the presence status indicator next to the contact's name, and then click either Call or Reply with Instant Message, as appropriate. When you reply to an e-mail message with an instant message or an audio call, the Conversation window that appears on the contact's computer screen contains the subject line of the e-mail message. This can help your contact instantly identify the subject of your conversation.
