For the drawing page size and orientation to be independent of the size and orientation of the printed page, Same as printer paper size
must be cleared on the Page Size
tab in the Page Setup
dialog box. This happens automatically when you manually adjust drawing page size or select either the Pre-defined size
or Custom size
As you change page sizes and orientations, the preview picture of the relationship between the two pages is constantly updated.
If the preview picture indicates that significant portions of the drawing and printed pages don't overlap, you may want to change the orientation of one of the pages (on the Print Setup
tab) to ensure that all the drawing content will be visible on the printed page.
Earlier in this lesson, you learned two facts about drawing pages and printed pages:
- Fact 1: Drawing page and printed page sizes and orientations can be set independently of one another, giving you the flexibility you need to fit your content on the drawing page and print a drawing at any size you want.
- Fact 2: Only drawing content that falls within the borders of the white drawing page on the screen will appear in the printed drawing.
Fact 2 puts some limitations on Fact 1. For example:
- If the printed page size is smaller than the drawing page size and the drawing content fills the drawing page, some content may not appear in a full size printed version.
- Some drawing content may also not appear on the printed page if the orientations of the drawing and printed pages differ, as shown in the page size preview in the Page Setup dialog box on the left.
