Create your own template

Customized design template
You want a customized template for your Microsoft PowerPoint® presentations that includes your organization's name and a unique background, with the colors and font styles of your choice. How do you create it and make it available for later use within PowerPoint? This course tells you.

About this course

This course includes:

  • Two self-paced lessons and two practice sessions for hands-on experience.
  • A short test at the end of each lesson; tests are not scored.
  • A Quick Reference Card you can take away from the course.

Goals

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Create a new template based on the Default Design template in PowerPoint.
  • Get the background images, colors, fonts, and text you want.
  • Add variety by giving title slides their own design.
  • Make your template available for future use.

Before you begin

This course assumes that you have some familiarity with PowerPoint. If you have not created a PowerPoint slide show before, we recommend the course Create your first presentation as a starting point for training.

Are there elements that you want to use over and over again in your slide show design? The logo for your organization, for example, or a particular background image?

Maybe there's a font that you prefer for slide text, or a specific color scheme.

Save all these design preferences in a PowerPoint template. One application of the template, and the full design is in place for your entire show. The template is ready for you to apply to any other shows, too.
