The entry point for all the toolbars is via the menu bar. Select the menu bar by pressing ALT, and then you can move between different toolbars by pressing CTRL+TAB. If you have several toolbars open, it is sometimes quicker to move backwards through the toolbars. You can do this by using SHIFT+CTRL+TAB.
When you move between the toolbars, the focus will go in a repeating cycle through the bars that you have open, so the order will be based on which bars are open. The menu bar is also included in the cycle. So if you had two toolbars open, the cycle would repeat in this order:
- Menu bar
- Toolbar
- Toolbar
- Menu bar
Although the menu bar, in some ways, is like a toolbar, one major difference is that you can never close the menu bar. Hence, whatever toolbars you choose to have displayed, the menu bar will always be there.
Note In some Office programs, if you have your screen set to full screen view, you will not see the menu bar because it is positioned off screen. But it isn't closed; you can still get to it by pressing ALT.
If you wish to close a toolbar, select it in the Toolbar submenu. Selecting an open toolbar will remove the checkmark, and it will close.
