Workflows II: Collect feedback for a file

Office button, Server submenu, Check out command

How to check out a file.

If you think you might need more time to edit a file and give feedback, we recommend checking out the file first. Click the Microsoft Office Button Button image, point to Server, and then click Check Out. When you’re done, you can check in the file so that other people on the workflow can give their feedback. To do that, simply close the file and you’ll be prompted to check it in.

Note    Some document libraries may be configured to require check out before any editing occurs. If you want to set up your library this way, see the details in the Quick Reference Card of this course.
