Birthdays I: Keep track of birthdays and anniversaries

Click Play to see an animated example of creating a new recurring event in a calendar.

You may not have Outlook contacts for all the important people in your life. For example, you may not have created a contact for your spouse, but you certainly do want to remember your beloved's birthday. You can do this by entering an annual event into the calendar directly.

Tip     To make birthdays and anniversaries easier to find later, keep this text consistent with the text that Outlook enters for you. For example, always spell out "Birthday." Also, when you enter dates, use all four numbers for each year.

Don't worry about remembering all of these steps now. Just follow along to get a general idea of how it's done. You'll get a chance to walk through the entire process again in the practice session at the end of this lesson. The steps are also listed in the Quick Reference Card at the end of this course.
