Callout 1 On the Column tab, change the setting in the Measure in box to Percent, and in the Preferred width box, set the width for the left, middle, and right columns.
Callout 2 Remember that you can cycle through the columns to set their widths without leaving this dialog box by clicking Previous Column and Next Column.
Callout 3 To ensure that the table uses the full width of the page, click the Table tab and set the Preferred width to 100 percent.

A host table is a table used to create a page layout. To create an effective host table that is easy to manage, keep the structure simple.

The tips below will help you set up a host table that looks perfect and stays perfect without extra work.

  • Divider columns: In Figure 1, the middle column is used to separate the content on the page. When you want to use a column as a divider, use the Table Properties dialog box to precisely size table columns (Figure 2).
  • AutoFit setting: Apply the AutoFit option Fixed Column Width to your host table to ensure that the table retains its layout. In this way, the table will not lose its shape to accommodate content you add to it. To apply this setting, on the Table menu click AutoFit and then click Fixed Column Width.
