HTML Tables I: Basic concepts

Table border and cell border

Callout 1 These cells have been given a background that overrides the yellow background of the table.
Callout 2 This cell has a red border that overrides the purple border of the table.

The cell background and border are two more properties that you can define at the cell level. Note that if you set these properties at the cell level, they will override any properties specified at the table level.

Background color    You can change the background color of cells when you want to make specific cells stand out.

Border color    You can specify the cell border color for specific cells using this property. This can be handy if you want to emphasize one cell over others.
