Bing Image Search app for Office is a task pane app that allows you to search for images on the web from within your word document. Following are details on the features provided by the app and how to use them:
You can search for images by selecting text in the document. Search is automatically performed by default and you can disable automatic search from settings if desired.
Alternatively you can type query in the search input box to search for results.
Results are displayed in a grid and when you click on a result, a larger preview is displayed at the bottom with additional details and options. Any result can be inserted into the document by clicking on the insert plus icon. The result will be inserted into the document at the cursor location.
You can filter images based on size, color, type, layout, and people. Filters are preserved across searches and displayed on the main screen. Filters can be cleared by closing (clicking on x) the filters message.
Any result can be added into favorites by clicking on the favorites star icon. If a result is already in favorites, the favorites icon is highlighted. Clicking on it will remove the item from favorites and change the icon back to default. In the current release favorites are stored locally on user’s machine in HTML5 storage and thus are accessible across documents on user’s machine.
Favorites can be viewed by clicking on the highlighted star icon on top right. This opens up the favorites pane and lists all results added to favorites. You can add a given item into the document by clicking on insert (plus) icon or remove it from favorites by clicking on highlighted favorites (star) icon.
