Allow or prevent custom ordering of items
 

This feature is not available for all lists.

  1. On the page that displays the list, click Modify settings and columns. If the list is in a Web Part, click the list name in the Web Part title bar first.
  2. Under Views, do one of the following:

    ShowChange an existing view

    • Click the view name in the View (click to edit) column.

    ShowCreate a view

    1. Click Create a new view.
    2. Click the type of view you want to create.
    3. On the Create View page, in the Name section, type a name for the view.
    4. If you want the new view to be the default view, select the Make this the default view check box.
  3. In the Sort section, under Allow users to order items in this view, select the option you want. If you don't see this option, it is not available for the type of list you are working with.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click OK.
