This step applies only if the account used as the identity of
the new application pool differs from the account that was used for
the identity of the default (MSSharePointPortalAppPool) application
pool and you are running a shared services
configuration.
You must grant search access to the application pool identity
account. In the parent server farm, do the following:
- On the SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration for
Server_Name page, in the Component Configuration
section, click Manage shared services for the server
farm.
- On the Manage Shared Services page, in the Direct Access to
Search Service section, enter the name of the new application
pool identity account in the format DOMAIN\user_name.
- Click OK.
