About configuring the Search Navigation Web Part

The Search Navigation Web Part provides links that take users to different search verticals. This might include links such as People and Videos, which would take users to a people-search vertical and a video-search vertical, respectively. You configure properties for the Search Navigation Web Part in the Search Navigation Web Part tool pane. These properties include settings for the following:

  • The Search Results Web Part to get the query from
  • The navigation links to display
  • Appearance
  • Layout

The Search Navigation Web Part uses the navigation links that are specified in the Configure Search Navigation section on the Search Settings page for the corresponding site. The navigation specified there includes the links for search verticals and the order in which those links will be displayed in the Web Part. The order of the links for search verticals that are provided by default on the Search Settings page is as follows: Everything, People, Conversations, Videos, and Reports.
