Add Meta Tags to Your Publisher 2000 Web Site

You've worked hard to create an interesting and informative Web site, and now you want people to visit it. People often find a Web site by typing keywords into a search engine, such as Alta Vista, and using the description in the search results to choose the site that they want to visit. You can determine how your Web site appears in the search results by using Meta tags in your Web pages. A Meta tag is HTML code in a Web page that can include a keyword list or description. Search engines use Meta tags to index Web sites and then display the description in the search results. Effective keyword lists include the plural forms of a word and some synonyms, listed in order of importance. Effective descriptions summarize your Web site's content.

To add Meta tags

  1. In your Web publication, click Web Properties on the File menu.
  2. Click the Site tab.
  3. In the Keywords box, type words, separated by commas, that describe the content of your Web site.
  4. In the Description box, type a brief description of your Web site.
