Insert a picture from a scanner or camera

Before you begin, make sure that:

Note    Some devices come with more than one software program. If you are not sure what software is TWAIN-compatible or WIA-compatible, check the device documentation or contact the manufacturer of the device.

You should also make sure that the picture that you want is in the scanner or camera.

  1. Select the picture in the Design Gallery logo so that a dashed box with handles that look like this Logo select handle appear around the picture.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From Scanner or Camera.

Note   If multiple devices are attached to your computer, select the device that you want to use from the Device list in the Insert Picture from Scanner or Camera dialog box.

  1. If you want to add the pictures to the Clip Organizer, select the Add Pictures to Clip Organizer box.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the selected device is a scanner and you want to use default settings for scanning the image, click Web Quality (if you are going to display the picture on a screen) or Print Quality (if you are going to print it), and then click Insert to scan your picture.

Note   If the Insert button is unavailable because the scanner software doesn't support an automatic scan, use the Custom Insert button instead.

  • If the selected device is not a scanner (for example, if it is a digital camera), or if you want to customize any settings before you scan the picture, click Custom Insert, and then follow the instructions for the device that you're using.
  1. In the Get Pictures from dialog box, double-click the folder that contains the picture that you want, click the picture to select it, and then click Get Pictures.
