Add Fonts for use in Publisher 2000

Publisher 2000 installs only the font files that are used in the publishing wizards. You can install the remaining 200 fonts from the installation CD or from other locations, such as the Internet or computer software stores. Once you add a font to your Windows operating system, you can use it in Office programs.

To install all fonts from the Publisher or Office CD

If you are running Publisher with the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system:

  1. Start Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Publisher 2000 or
    Microsoft Office 2000 disc 2.
  4. In the Setup dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
  5. Click the plus sign (+) next to Office Tools to expand the list of features.
  6. Click Fonts, click Run All from my Computer, and then click Update Now.

If you are running Publisher with the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system:

  1. Start Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Publisher 2000 or Microsoft Office 2000, and then click Change.
  4. In the Setup dialog box, click Add or Remove Features.
  5. Click the plus sign (+) next to Office Tools to expand the list of features.
  6. Click Fonts, click Run All from my Computer, and then click Update Now.

To add a font from other sources

Before starting this procedure, save the file you want to download to your hard disk. Do not use this procedure to install fonts from the Publisher CD. Use the procedure above.

  1. Start Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Fonts.
  3. On the File menu, click Install New Font.
  4. In the Drives box, click the disk that you saved the font file to.
  5. In the Folders box, click the folder you want.
  6. In the List of fonts box, click the font file you want to add.

Publisher 2000 includes information about TrueType fonts. On the Help menu, click Microsoft Publisher Help, and then type TrueType fonts in the Office Assistant.

Windows also includes information about fonts. Start Windows, click Start, click Help, and then type fonts overview.
