By applying a Cost Overbudget filter (filter: Specifies which task or resource information should be displayed or highlighted in a view. For example, when you apply the Critical filter, only critical tasks are displayed.), you can quickly focus on cost (cost: The total scheduled cost for a task, resource, or assignment, or for an entire project. This is sometimes referred to as the current cost. In Project, baseline costs are usually referred to as "budget.") overruns for tasks (task: An activity that has a beginning and an end. Project plans are made up of tasks.) or assignments (assignment: A specific resource that is assigned to a particular task.).
View task cost overruns
- On the View menu, click Task Usage, point to Table, and then click Cost.
- In the Filter
box, click Cost Overbudget. - If you want to see specific cost overruns, click Cost Greater Than in the Filter box, and then specify a cost value in the Show tasks/assignments whose cost is greater than box.
- To see all tasks, click All Tasks in the Filter box.
View resource cost overruns
- On the View menu, click Resource Usage, point to Table, and then click Cost.
- In the Filter
box, click Cost Overbudget. - If you want to see specific cost overruns, click Cost Greater Than in the Filter box, and then specify a cost value in the Show resources/assignments whose cost is greater than box.
- To see all resources, click All Resources in the Filter box.
View a report of tasks or resources that are over budget
- On the View menu, click Reports.
- Click Costs, and then click Select.
- To display task overruns, click Overbudget Tasks, and then click Select.
To display resource overruns, click Overbudget Resources, and then click Select.
