You must use an account to connect to your organization's Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 computer. If needed, you can add other accounts to access different Project Server computers.

1. On the Tools menu, point to Enterprise Options, and then click Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts.
2. In the Project Server Accounts dialog box, click Add.
3. In the Account Name box of the Account Properties dialog box, type a name for this account.
4. In the Project Server URL box, type the complete server name, for example, http://yourserver/servername.

   Important  Click Test Connection to verify that the Project Server exists. It does not, verify if you are able to log onto the server.

5. Under When connecting, select an account to use.
6. If you chose Use a Project Server account, in the User name box, type a name to use when you log on to Project Server.

   To connect by using Windows authentication, click Use Windows user account.

7. If this is your default Project Server account, select the Set as default account check box.
8. Close and then restart Project to connect to the Project Server you specified.

The connection state of the new account is automatically detected when you start Microsoft Office Project 2003. If you want to manually control the connection state, click Manually control connection state in the Project Server Accounts dialog box.

Notes

• If you get a Project Server Unavailable message when you try to connect to Project Server, verify with your server administrator (administrator: Sets up and manages user accounts, assigns permissions, and helps users with network or server access issues. This person can also manage and customize various elements in Project Professional and in Project Server.) that you are in a Project Server group that has sufficient permission to connect to Project Server from Project. By default the Project Manager group allows this, but the Team Member group does not.
• If you get an Access Denied error when you try to connect to Project Server, check the spelling of the URL you are using to connect. Make sure you have included the entire URL name, such as http://yourserver/servername, including the "servername" portion of the URL name.
• If you are using a Wide Area Network (WAN) connection or are experiencing a lot of network delays or latency, then select Connecting across a WAN in the Project Server Accounts dialog box when you first start Project. Using this type of connection will speed up the Build Team from Enterprise functionality by not accessing resource availability information. Resource availability information, however, will be available in other parts of Project.
• To set an account as the default, in the Project Server Accounts dialog box, under Available accounts, select an account, and then click Set as Default.
• To edit an existing account, in the Project Server Accounts dialog box, under Available accounts, select an account, and then click Properties. Make changes in the Account Properties dialog box.
• To remove an account, in the Project Server Accounts dialog box, under Available accounts, select an account, and then click Remove.
