Workflow State (project field)

The Workflow State field indicates a selected proposal or a project’s current workflow (A workflow represents the structured governance process for projects to proceed through lifecycle phases. An organization's project workflow can be modeled and controlled through the demand management features in Project Web Access.) state, for example, Waiting For Approval or Completed. This field is a component of the Project Server workflow framework.

Data Type    Enumerated (enumerated field: A type of field whose content is selected from a list of predefined choices. For example, in the Accrue At field you can select the way resource costs are accrued from a list that includes Start, Prorated, and End.)

Entry Type    Calculated (calculated field: A field in which the value is determined by Project based on information in other fields. Project may recalculate the value automatically or when you specify, depending on your choice of calculation settings.)

Best Uses    The current state is determined by the workflow, which completes this field. Add the Workflow State field to a project page or to a report when you want to see the current status of a project’s workflow.

Example    You manage a portfolio of projects, and you want to track each project’s current status. You add the Workflow State field to the Project Center.

Remarks    The enumerated field values are Not Started, Waiting For Input, Waiting For Approval, Workflow Processing, Completed, Completed With Errors, and Workflow Completed.
