Data Type Enumerated (enumerated field: A type of field whose content is selected from a list of predefined choices. For example, in the Accrue At field you can select the way resource costs are accrued from a list that includes Start, Prorated, and End.)
Entry Type Calculated (calculated field: A field in which the value is determined by Project based on information in other fields. Project may recalculate the value automatically or when you specify, depending on your choice of calculation settings.)
Description The Default Assignment Owner field contains the name of the enterprise user who is responsible for entering status on a given assignment (assignment: A specific resource that is assigned to a particular task.). This field is set in Microsoft Office Project Web Access, and appears in Microsoft Office Project 2007.
How Calculated The default assignment owner is identified in the Resource Center of Office Project Web Access and shown in various locations in Office Project 2007.
Best Uses Add the Default Assignment Owner field to a resource sheet to view the name of the individual with the responsibility for entering actual work or reporting on status for an assignment. The default assignment owner is responsible for reporting on any assignments that do not have another assignment owner designated. The default assignment owner can also be responsible for assignments with material resources (material resource: The supplies or other consumable items that are used to complete tasks in a project.), and generic resources (generic resources: Placeholder resources that are used to specify the skills required for a specific task.). The default assignment owner is often the project manager who publishes the project to Microsoft Office Project Server 2007. Cost resources (cost resources: Resources that don't depend on the amount of work on a task or the duration of a task, such as airfare or lodging.) do not have assignment owners.
Example You have several generic resources and material resources assigned to tasks in your project. Because you want to make sure that these assignments always have their status accurately reported, you add the Default Assignment Owner field to the Resource Sheet to make sure that all assignments have an owner.
Remarks You can see the default assignment owner using the Resource Information dialog box. Double-click any resource. On the General tab in the Resource Information dialog box, review the name in the Default Assignment Owner box.
The Default Assignment Owner field is not available for local (non-enterprise) resources.
