Check spelling in a different language

Microsoft Office Project 2003 ships with three spelling dictionaries: English, French, and Spanish. If you want to check the spelling in a language other than one of these three, then you need to purchase the Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2003 CD.

Project can be used with Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2003, an add-in package that contains the proofing tools that Microsoft makes for more than 50 languages. The tools include fonts, spelling and grammar checkers, AutoCorrect lists, translation dictionaries, and, for Asian languages, Input Method Editors (IMEs) (IME: A program that enters Asian text [Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, or Korean] into programs by converting keystrokes into complex Asian characters. The IME [input method editor] is treated as an alternate type of keyboard layout.).

  1. On the Tools menu, click Spelling.
  2. In the Spelling dialog box, select the language that you want to use to check your spelling from the Dictionary language list.

You can only change the dictionary language after performing a spell check on your project and a misspelled word is found. After checking the spelling of one language, you must select another dictionary and check the spelling again. Repeat this process for each language.

Note   The language you specify is not a per-project setting. Once you set the dictionary language, all future projects that you open will use the same dictionary until you select a new language from the Dictionary language list.
