Your computer may have been shipped with a Microsoft Product Identifier card that provides the 25-character trial product key. If not, your computer has the Microsoft Office — 60-day trial desktop icon that links to the Activation Assistant to request a trial product key online. The Activation Assistant may also be located on the Microsoft Office menu (Start/Programs). If you downloaded your trial, your key would have been presented to you during the download process and sent to you in an e-mail with additional details.

The 8-character referral key is not required to activate your preinstalled Microsoft Office software. If the referral key box appears you should leave it empty.
